Mānoa Marketplace

Do you have a college textbook you no longer need or use but have nowhere to sell it? How about vice versa, where you are looking for a textbook but want it at a cheap cost? Well then, I have a solution for you!

As a final project for my ICS 314 course, we were tasked with creating and building a web application with a random team. For my pointed team specifically, we were to create a web application similar to Craigslist, where UH Mānoa staff and faculty members could buy and sell goods. In turn, our team created the web application where only UH users can create an account and sign up with their “@hawaii.edu” email. This web application is designed to target UH Mānoa students to where they are able to sell and buy goods from other UH Mānoa students at a much cheaper and lower price, rather than buying brand new products or items. If necessary, admins may be able to delete or edit their listings or profiles. Regular users may also report listings and other users if an issue comes up. This web application is aimed to help both parties tremendously. Sellers may be able to make some cash and get rid of things they no longer need or use, while on the other hand, buyers are able to buy second-hand items at a cheap rate!

Implemented in this web application were Javascript, HTML, React, Meteor, Bootstrap, and CSS. Github and DigitalOcean were the main sources for allowing us to collaborate and deploy our application as well.

Here is an example of a page that I created. The “Categories” Page shows a list of categories and you are then able to click on the image or box to be redirected to existing listings under that category. Once you find a listing that you are interested in, you may then click on the listing box to be shown that listing’s information.
